Pioneering a digital presence for Ibiza’s most iconic boutique hotel
A beacon of Art Deco elegance and Ibiza’s effortlessly cool spirit, Hotel Es Vive underwent a stunning transformation in 2014 under the creative direction of renowned British interior designer Sean Cochrane. Once celebrated as “the funkiest hotel in Ibiza,” this boutique gem is ideally located near Ibiza Town, just moments from Playa d’en Bossa and the island’s iconic nightlife.
Our partnership began in 2014—when social media was still uncharted territory for most hotels. With no roadmap and no real benchmarks, I was brought on to conceptualize and build Hotel Es Vive’s online presence from scratch. Together, we created a digital brand that mirrored the hotel’s unique personality: stylish, vibrant, and irresistibly shareable. In 2020, following the property’s acquisition by football legend Lionel Messi, I remained involved for one final season, managing social media during the transition to his in-house team at the Barcelona head office.
OBJECTIVE
To carve out a unique and magnetic online identity for Hotel Es Vive at a time when social media was still evolving. The aim was to position the hotel as a standout destination for design lovers, creatives, and cosmopolitan travellers—while increasing visibility, boosting engagement, and ultimately driving direct bookings.

My partnership with Hotel Es Vive went beyond traditional social media management—it was about capturing and amplifying the hotel’s distinctive character in every digital touchpoint. Through a highly tailored content strategy and hands-on community engagement, I helped transform their online presence from a modest starting point into a vibrant, loyal following.

Grew Hotel Es Vive’s social media audience from just 600 followers to over 30,000 highly engaged fans in just three months through strategic planning, bespoke content creation, and consistent brand storytelling.
STRATEGY
As an early adopter of social media for luxury hospitality, my strategy for Hotel Es Vive was rooted in originality, instinct, and a strong understanding of the brand’s energy. The approach included:
Crafting a visual storytelling style inspired by the hotel’s Art Deco interiors and Ibiza’s nightlife culture
Producing and curating bespoke photo and video content that reflected the guest experience
Launching influencer partnerships and UGC campaigns well before they became industry standard
Establishing a consistent brand voice that resonated with the hotel’s international clientele
Creating a social content calendar aligned with seasonal events, music activations, and local happenings
Actively managing community engagement to turn followers into advocates
Adapting strategy in real time based on performance analytics and guest feedback
RESULTS
Grew the hotel’s social media following from 600 to over 30,000 in just three months
Achieved engagement rates well above hospitality benchmarks of the time
Drove notable increases in direct bookings via Instagram and Facebook
Created a scalable content strategy that was later adopted by the in-house team post-acquisition
Helped elevate the brand’s visibility and desirability—ultimately attracting the attention of high-profile investor Lionel Messi
Contributed to a smooth and consistent digital handover during the transition of ownership, ensuring brand continuity throughout.
